Barrister Sultan for practical accountability in AJK

The President Azad Jammu and Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhary has said that the role of Accountability Bureau in AJK should be effective.

He was talking to the Chairman Accountability Bureau AJK Sardar Naeem Ahmed Shiraz who called on him at the President’s House here at Kashmir House on Tuesday. He was flanked by the high-ups of his organization.

“I have the honor that the Accountability Act was passed from the Legislative Assembly during my tenure in the Prime Minister’s office in 2001. At that time all the political parties of AJK supported the bill. Though I had pressure that the sphere of NAB Pakistan should have been extended to AJK, I strengthened the AJK Accountability Bureau.”, Barrister added.

He said that later the governments in AJK have made this institution a toothless organization but now the government is trying to restore it in its original shape so that it may work in a befitting manner.

He said that a cabinet committee is working in this regard and soon a balanced situation would be created to gear up the process of accountability in AJK.

Sultan was of the view that he is in favor of a transparent and effective accountability system in the government.

The President AJK discussed the annual report of the Accountability Bureau in detail with its head.
