CS GB lauds performance of NATCO

GILGIT: The Chief Secretary of Gilgit-Baltistan, Abrar Ahmed Mirza has said that the performance of the Northern Areas Transport Corporation (NATCO) is encouraging. This national asset of Gilgit-Baltistan is running into profit.
This was said by the Chief Secretary GB, who is also the Chairman of the NATCO Board, while addressing the 130th Board of Directors meeting. It was informed to the board that NATCO earned a profit of eight crore rupees in the last fiscal year, whereas previously this institution was incurring losses.
The management of NATCO has demonstrated excellent performance under the leadership of Managing Director Aziz Ahmed Jamali in a limited time.
The business plan was completed in light of the directives of the previous board meeting. Urban transport has also been included in the plan, for which practical wisdom has been prepared in collaboration with the district administration.
NATCO is in the final stages of implementing the online ticketing system to make passenger service active and travel easy. It was informed to the board that NATCO workshops and NATCO tours have been operated with practical wisdom and made profitable. The Board of Directors expressed satisfaction with the performance of NATCO administration. Based on the annual trade volume of the corporation and the accounts, the NATCO board has been directed to convene the annual general meeting within two weeks, where the accounts of the last three years will be reviewed.
The board expressed hope that if the performance continues at this pace, NATCO will be a profitable institution in the future.
