HEC chairman inaugurates Al-Ghazali library at university of Haripur

Haripur: HEC Chairman Professor Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed inaugurated the Al-Ghazali Central Library and Science & Technology Park at the University of Haripur. According to the university’s registrar’s statement, a splendid ceremony was organized to mark the opening. The event was attended by the Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Shafiqur Rehman, registrar Riaz Ahmed, section heads, chairpersons, deans, faculty, staff, and renowned Pashto author Javed Iqbal Afghar, who warmly welcomed the special guest, HEC Chairman Professor Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed.

During the inauguration, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, along with Professor Dr. Shafiqur Rehman, unveiled the Al-Ghazali Central Library and Science & Technology Park. Following the inauguration, they visited the newly established Islamic Garden, planting a tree to commemorate the occasion. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed also took the opportunity during his visit to appreciate the horticultural exhibition, showcasing bonsais, rangoli designs, citrus fruits, vegetables, and attractive food stalls, aimed at fostering students’ creative abilities and enhancing their educational experience.

An admirable initiative during the ceremony was the distribution of toll cuts using funds provided by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan under the LCF-55 grant. Emphasizing social responsibility and empowerment, the University of Haripur demonstrated its commitment by distributing sewing machines and toll kits among the needy and impoverished, in collaboration with philanthropists.

Expressing gratitude for HEC’s cooperation, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Shafiqur Rehman highlighted the significance of the day’s events, praising the Al-Ghazali Central Library and Science & Technology Park for their contributions to educational advancement and technical innovation. He anticipated the transformative impact of these initiatives on the university’s academic landscape.

The University of Haripur, under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Shafiqur Rehman, initiated a comprehensive program to support vital aspects of students’ lives, emphasizing mental health interventions and providing religious counseling, acknowledging the importance of mental well-being in academic success and personal development.

HEC Chairman Professor Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed expressed optimism for Pakistan’s higher education future, commending the University of Haripur’s efforts in providing modern facilities for its students. He lauded the Al-Ghazali Central Library and Science & Technology Park for reflecting a commitment to excellence. He anticipated their role in nurturing the aspirations of future innovators and researchers.

The ceremony concluded with a symbolic gift presentation of birds by Dr. Syed Mazhar Nizami, Chairman of the Department of Forests and Wildlife. Professor Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed was also presented with a souvenir from the University of Haripur as a symbol of enduring collaboration between the institution and the Higher Education Commission.
