Accountability in AJK need of an hour: Sardar Tanveer Ilyas

Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan, has reaffirmed his commitment to safeguarding the democratic system and structure of Azad Jammu Kashmir, and preventing any attempts to undermine it.

The Prime Minister highlighted that 90% of secretaries in AJK were on stay orders, and several transfer orders of the Deputy Commissioner and Tehsildars were also reversed. He emphasized the need for accountability in Azad Kashmir.

The Prime Minister also shared news about various developmental projects underway in the region, including the establishment of a joint medical university of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan, the construction of a state-of-the-art cardiology hospital named after Shaheed Burhan Wani in Muzaffarabad, the inauguration of a dry port in Mirpur, and plans to build an international airport on the model of Sialkot under public-private partnership. He also announced the granting of tehsil status to Kalri and Khari Sharif.

During his visit to Mirpur, the Prime Minister stated that the PTI government had accomplished historic feats in just one and a half years, which were comparable to the accomplishments of the previous ten years. He mentioned that the government had given the status of Tehsil to Islamgarh and Kheer and would soon issue an immediate notification for giving the status of Tehsil to Kalri in Bhimbar.

 

The Prime Minister also announced the promotion of 10 police SPs in Azad Kashmir, including one woman SP, and the permanent employment of more than 2600 employees who were recruited randomly during the previous government’s tenure and 382 employees of MNCS.

He also shared that the road connection with Gilgit would reduce the nine-hour distance to Gilgit and Islamabad, and the quota for admission in educational institutions would be increased for Gilgit male and female students.

The Prime Minister expressed his resolve to safeguard the dignity of the state and prevent any attempt to weaken the stable and firm democratic government of Azad Kashmir. He also asserted that Kashmir is nobody’s pasture, and they would not compromise on the honor and dignity of the state.

The Prime Minister emphasized the need to stabilize the political system of Azad Kashmir and hold everyone accountable under the law. He also expressed concern about the prevalence of stay orders for tehsildars and secretaries and baseless news spread on social media, which undermined accountability.
