AJK Medical College celebrates World Kidney Health Awareness Day

MUZAFARABAD:  World Kidney Health awareness day was celebrated at Azad Jammu Kashmir Medical College with the Collaboration of Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Combined Military Hospital and Abbas Institute of Medical Sciences Muzaffarabad. And Kashmir was Dr. Usman Chachadar. This seminar was organized by Commandant Brigadier Zahid Hussain and organized by Dr. Farooq Ahmed along with the entire team. The purpose of celebrating World Kidney Day was to create awareness about chronic kidney diseases and their protection, and this day is being celebrated this year 2022 under the title “Kidney Health Everywhere for Everyone”.
The Urologist Dr. Farooq Ahmed said that 843 million people worldwide are currently suffering from various kidney diseases. About 8.7% to 10.5% of people worldwide suffer from this disease and nearly one trillion dollars are spent annually in the care of this disease. According to an estimate, about thirteen million people are died of this disease in 2019 but the number has risen in 2021 and it is the tenth leading cause of death.
Dr. Farooq Ahmed also said that the whole world in Pakistan, chronic kidney disease patients depend on dialysis and kidney transplantation, and more than 170 million people in Pakistan suffer from kidney diseases, including chronic kidney disease and kidney stones.
The Principal Azad Jammu and Kashmir Medical College; Prof. Mulazim Hussain Bukhari welcomed the chief guest and other dignitaries and said that there are many causes of kidney failure, including diabetes, high blood pressure, diseases related to heart and blood vessels, hereditary kidney disease and obesity.
“I am proud of our urology team of AIMS, & CMH Muzaffarabad who are using the best technology day and night to serve the patients,” he said.
The Chief Secretary appreciated the seminar and said that to avoid kidney disease, keep blood pressure, sugar under control and get information about each medicine before taking it so that the effect of the medicine does not cause adverse effects on the kidneys.
Addressing the seminar, Comanadant CMH Muzaffarabad Brig Dr Zahid Huassain said; “We are going through an interesting journey. Pakistan Army is working closely with hospitals on various diseases. There are many challenges in every path. But we are learning to overcome those challenges. He also thanked the CS and other guests and whole team who participated in this seminar.
Dr. Masood Bukhari, Executive Director of AIIMS presided over the seminar along with Dr. Bushra Shams and Dr. Gul. And the main function of the kidneys is to clean the blood in the human body. About 1500 liters of blood pass through the kidneys every day during 24 hours for cleaning.Kidney disease affects the entire system, which affects other organs and systems of the body, kidney diseases are more common in women than in men.
It was mentioned in the seminar that the kidneys are the pair of organs that are located in your back. Each of these kidneys is located on one side of your spine. They work to clean your blood and remove toxins from the body. The kidneys filter toxins from the blood and send them to the bladder, where they are excreted in the urine. Kidney failure means the kidneys lose their ability to filter waste and toxins from their blood.
Anyone with kidney failure often has a few symptoms. The following kidney failure symptoms require immediate treatment: eg, decreased urine output; swelling of the legs, ankles and feet; shortness of breath; excessive sleepiness or fatigue; persistent nausea; confusion; etc. If any of these symptoms appear, a doctor should be consulted. When these patients come to early prevention it is important to keep yourself fit and active which is why exercise is so important. In addition, the risk of coronary heart disease can be reduced by keeping blood pressure in balance. At the same time, it is important to control blood sugar levels.
In the seminar, Prof Bashir taramboo, Dr. Major Sadra, Dr. Manza, Dr. Rubina Rafiq, Dr. Maryam Zubair, And Colonel Mubasher Shah also read their articles. Dr. Bashir Taranbu said that such programs should be continued so that people get awareness about diseases.
