CM Gulbar Khan for land reforms across GB

Gilgit: A high-level meeting was convened in Gilgit under the leadership of Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan of Gilgit-Baltistan to deliberate on the issue of Land Reforms. The meeting aimed to address the pressing concerns regarding land distribution and community empowerment in the region.
During the session, Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan emphasized the importance of resolving land-related issues in accordance with the aspirations of the local populace. He highlighted the pivotal role that the Land Reforms Act will play in empowering communities and ensuring equitable land distribution.
Key stakeholders, including Chairperson Forum of Institutes and Reforms Gilgit-Baltistan, Amjad Hussain Advocate, provided crucial insights into necessary reforms across various sectors. Priority was given to promoting agriculture and livestock sectors to meet evolving demands, with plans for introducing modern technologies and providing facilities to farmers and dairy farmers.
Furthermore, public-private partnerships were proposed to facilitate farmers with modern machinery, while research departments within the agriculture sector would be expanded to enhance productivity. The meeting also deliberated on promoting wheat cultivation and incorporating local farmers into value chains.
The recommendations put forth by the Gilgit-Baltistan Forum of Institutes and Reforms will now be thoroughly reviewed by relevant reform committees, followed by concrete steps to implement the proposed reforms. Notable attendees at the meeting included ASMR and the Secretary of Law, along with other senior officials.
The outcome of this high-level meeting signifies a concerted effort towards addressing land-related challenges and fostering sustainable development in Gilgit-Baltistan. As discussions progress, the region remains poised to embrace comprehensive reforms aimed at promoting economic prosperity and social well-being.
