ISLAMABAD: On Tuesday, State Minister for Petroleum Musadik Malik questioned a social media teaser for a film that focuses on Pakistan’s fraud culture while linking the Sharif family to high-profile financial misdeeds committed during their previous administrations.
The teaser appears to be the introduction to a Netflix-produced documentary about political corruption with the working title “Behind Closed Doors.” A significant number of social media users, including several powerful figures, have shared the video. Even Fawad Chaudhry, the PTI leader, shared the video.

The production company for the documentary, Independent POV, aired the teaser on its YouTube page. According to the movie’s website, it wants to promote critical thinking and challenge dogma.

Netflix has refuted claims that it was the film’s producer. So, who is responsible for that movie, we ask? From what source was the movie’s finance derived? At a press conference, Malik said, ”

“All of PTI’s covert [illegal] finance is used there, I’m afraid. Foreign money is used to support every effort against the martyrs, the organisations, and these films.
These videos reportedly cost about Rs. 3 million each, according to the state minister.
The minister pushed back on PTI’s claim that they had not employed David Fenton’s firm for lobbying and propaganda. In order to assist the “party’s desire for positive ties with the United States and the Pakistani diaspora in the US,” the PTI (USA) branch has reportedly hired Fenton/Arlook, a PR and advocacy firm with headquarters in Washington, DC.

The lobbying firm’s main client is PTI’s USA chapter. For a fee of $25,000 over six months, PTI USA has hired the company to handle its media and public affairs. Malik responded to a query about the gas rate by stating that we paid $40/MMBTU for LNG (liquefied natural gas), not $3–4/MMBTU. “In January and February 2023, an additional LNG cargo will be delivered.”
Additionally, he declared that Sui Northern Gas Pipelines would supply users with LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) cylinders this year.

“We are finding it difficult to purchase another LNG cargo for the winter.”

In order to achieve energy independence, the minister predicted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would soon make a public declaration.
