Death of Charlbi Dean was attributed to “an unexpected acute sickness.” The actor’s cause of death, however, was later determined to be something different.
The medical examiner in New York City determined the South African star’s cause of death. According to Fox News Digital, it was bacterial sepsis.
It was decided that the late actor’s death was an accident. Her “bacterial (Capnocytophaga) sepsis complicating asplenia owing to remote blunt force trauma of torso,” according to the medical examiner, was the cause of death.
Apparently, the Spud actor was involved in an automobile accident in 2009. She injured her back and had her spleen removed as a result of the vehicle accident.
Alex Jacobs, Dean’s brother, claimed Charlbi had “minimal” symptoms in an interview with Rolling Stones. Her “sudden sickness” was disclosed as the cause of death.
According to Jacobs, “We still aren’t really clear [what happened].” “An autopsy is being performed, which we are aware could take some time. However, from what we’ve learned, she had a viral infection in her lungs.
In 2009, Dean was engaged in a “very, very serious vehicle accident,” he continued, and her spleen was removed as a result.
The ability of the spleen to fight against infections may have contributed to what transpired, according to Jacobs. The fact that she was missing her spleen “simply added to the reason why she may not have been able to fend it off.”
Dean’s final film, Triangle of Sadness, received the Palme d’Or at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival.
