Honoring The Faces: Victims of Acid Attacks

Acid attack is among one of those crimes which do not only effect the life of an individual but also their whole family faces the consequences.

According to details the corrosive substance easily available in the market. Three years ago a 27-year-old female was domestically attacked in Lahore by a young man, who was incensed by the girl refusal to marry him.

Why it was so easy for a man to destroy that women life? According to Non-Governmental Organization, publicized statistic of the barbarous crime from 2007-2018 cases reached to 1,186. A dancing girl in Karachi committed suicide in order to get an escape from circumstances before death.

She died twice once she was drenched in acid and second when she committed suicide in Italy. Before her death she had undergone through almost 40 rounds of surgeries. In a land mark judgement of 2019 the supreme court described acid attack as a “bigger crime than a murder”.

More than 90% of the cases are not register just because of the higher influence of the or some political background of the perpetrator’s. The bill on acid attack victims was passed in 2018 in assembly to implement the law and the punishment set for this barbarous crime is 14 year of jail minimum and maximum of life imprisonment. The government provide over 1 crore rupees’ rehabilitation and treatment for the acid attack victim’s.
