Imran Khan, the leader of the PTI, broke the Toshakhana norms for giving presents, which were changed by his own government, according to a recent revelation.
The former prime minister changed the law for the first time when he was in office by increasing the purchase price from 20% to 50%. Khan, however, only paid 20% of the total price, rather than the initial 50%, to purchase it.
When he was supposed to pay 50% of the price, the PTI chairman purchased the gifts offered by the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman by paying 20% of the cost.
On December 18, 2018, the Toshakhana regulations were altered by the PTI administration, increasing the payment from 20% to 50%.
The Saudi crown prince gave the Toshakhana gift on January 22, 2019, but 35 days after the law was changed, the PTI government purchased it for 20% of the cost.
Khan claimed to have sold the watch for more than Rs50 million and to have paid Toshakhana Rs20 million on the day the watch was sold.
This element reveals two possibilities: either Khan sold the present for Rs51 million in the market before claiming it from Toshakhana for Rs20 million, or someone else had deposited the Rs20 million in Toshakhana on the former premier’s account.
