India can’t suppress emotions of Kashmir: Latif Akbar

Islamabad: Speaker of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Chaudhry Latif Akbar, stated that India cannot suppress the emotions of the Kashmiris. In order to highlight the Kashmir issue, a Speaker’s Conference will be held in Muzaffarabad. The media should play its role in exposing India’s heinous actions against Yasin Malik.
These views were expressed by Chaudhry Latif Akbar while addressing a press conference held in honor of President of the Social Media People’s Party, Sardar Zulfiqar, and in recognition of his contributions to print and electronic media.

Senior journalists including Abdul Wadood Qureshi, Syed Akram Shah, Tariq Chaudhry, Amir Mahboob, Amjad Chaudhry, Sardar Zahid Tabeer, Abid Abbasi, Khawaja A Mateen, Basharat Abbasi, Shahzad Rathore, Qayyum Bakhari, Khawar Nawaz Raja, Mohiuddin Dar, Syed Naveed Bakhari, Aqil Anjum, Asghar Hayat, and Syed Nawazish Abbas attended the reception ceremony.
Speaker of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Chaudhry Latif Akbar, while addressing the gathering, said that the Kashmiri nation is going through difficult times, and occupied Kashmir has become a military garrison. India has illegally arrested hundreds of freedom-loving people, including Yasin Malik, and is taking illegal and heinous actions to silence the voices of Kashmiris and for the murder of Yasin Malik.
He further stated that the United Nations should immediately take note of India’s illegal actions in occupied Kashmir. Chaudhry Latif Akbar said that in the upcoming general elections in India, steps should be taken at all levels to respond strongly to anti-Pakistan statements and provocations on the LOC.
In response to a question, the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly said that it is necessary to adopt a relevant policy to effectively highlight the Kashmir issue at international forums. In this regard, a Speaker’s Conference will be held in Muzaffarabad, the capital of Azad Kashmir. Additionally, the Kashmir issue will also be raised on the international forum through parliamentary delegations from abroad. He further stated that whenever the People’s Party comes to power in Azad Kashmir and Pakistan, we establish good relations with the media. We stand for media freedom.
