Mahmood Khan, the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, stated on Tuesday that he will sign the summary for the provincial assembly’s dissolution by tonight.
Imran Khan, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), gave the chief minister instructions to transmit the summary of the dissolution of the assembly to KP Governor Haji Ghulam Ali.
CM Mahmood stated during the 86th provincial cabinet meeting that he will send the report for the assembly’s dissolution today.
The KP chief minister added, “The last four years have been quite nice, and I appreciate all the members, government and opposition members, and the bureaucracy.
Mahmood claimed that if his party secures a two-thirds majority in the general elections, it will become the government.
He blamed the incumbent government for the instability in the country, saying that getting rid of the “corrupt group” has become indispensable.
KP Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Shahram Khan Tarakai, addressing a press conference after the meeting, said that no one opposed the dissolution of the assembly.
Dissolution of KP assembly to lead to general polls
Reacting to the news of the dissolution of the assembly, PTI Senior Vice President Fawad Chaudhry said that the dissolution of the KP Assembly will pave way for the general elections.
“The federal government will be sent packing in the next two weeks,” said the PTI leader, adding that the real issue is the political crisis and not the economy.
‘KP CM asked to file no-trust move against him’
On the other hand, Leader of the Opposition in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Akram Khan Durrani alleged that CM Mahmood, through a close associate, asked him to file a no-confidence motion against him in a bid to stop the assembly from dissolving.
Durrani said that three of the ministers have spoken to his aide regarding this matter. The people pray for the end of this government’s tenure as there is inflation and corruption, he added.
Punjab Assembly
The report for the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly last week was forwarded to the governor by Punjab chief minister Parvez Elahi last week. Rehman, however, refused to sign it, and as a result the legislative body was immediately disbanded.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab’s assemblies were to be dissolved, the PTI chairman had said in November of the previous year. However, the plans were delayed because of discussions with allies and responses taken by the central allies who were in power.
Since the PTI’s decision, the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has frequently urged it to dissolve the assemblies, and it appears that it is now also getting ready for elections.
In contrast, a majority of PTI lawmakers in KP oppose dissolving the provincial parliament and losing their stable administration, much like there were obstacles or concerns in Punjab.
“I don’t know who gave Imran Khan, the party chairman, that advice, but it wasn’t a good one. neither the party’s nor the province’s best interests are served by it “The News was informed by a minister who desired to remain unnamed.
“According to the minister of the ruling party, “The PTI has a stable government in KP and it should have been allowed to continue till the national general elections.”
