The Spokesperson to Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Tauseef Abbasi has said that the PM AJK Sardar Tanvir Ilyas has ordered to enhance the amount of Zakat from Rs 3,000 per month to Rs 36,000 for each deserving person.
In his statement issued on Wednesday the spokesman said that the PM AJK is desirous that no concession should be given to those elements who are involved in embezzlement in the Zakat fund. They would be given punishments through courts .
He said that the PM AJK wants to develop the system of Zakat on a transparent basis, so that it may be reached to the deserving persons.
He said that though the scheduled banks are deducting Zakat from their account holders, they are not transferring full funds to the Azad Kashmir government.
“AJK government has decided to conduct an audit of the scheduled banks from international reputed auditors on account of the amount collected as Zakat from AJK territory”, he added.
Abbasi said that PM AJK has imposed ban on other expenditures from the Zakat fund
