Deputy commissioner Mirpur Chadhuary Amjad Iqbal has said that the joint venture of District Administration, Health Department and Department of Public Health engineering has started a vast program to counter the breakthrough of jaundice in the region. In this regard the hotels and restaurants are given an ultimatum to clean their water tanks and only serve filtered water to their customers and if they fail to toe with the said orders the government will take strict action against the violators.
He expressed these views while presiding over the meeting of the officers of various departments regarding preventive measures for the eradication of jaundice disease in Mirpur. The Deputy Commissioner said that the Department of Public Health Engineering will also gradually clean all the supply water tanks in the city. Citizens should clean the water tanks of their homes and use filter water in view of the spread of jaundice disease.
Due to the cleaning of the tanks, the supply of water from the main water tank supplying to different sectors will be stopped for two days from May 5. Therefore, the citizens should clean the tanks of their houses and store water beforehand.
In the meeting, DHO Dr. Fida Hussain Raja, Assistant Commissioner Sardar Abdul Qadir Khan, Chief Officer Mugheeth Riaz, Axin Public Health Engineering Raja Inamullah Khan, DMS Dr. Iram Batul, Information Officer Muhammad Javed Malik, Municipal Magistrate Sheikh Zahid Majeed, SD Oraja Hafeezur Rahman, Assistant Director Livestock Dr. Khalid Qayyum Butt, SDO Public Health Engineering Syed. Hyder Ali, Engineer Yasir Ahmed of PHE, Qamar Atta of Muslim Hands were also present.
Executive Engineer Department of Public Health Raja Inamullah Khan was briefed about the steps taken to clean water supply tanks, lab testing of samples from water tanks.
