RWU celebrates International Women’s Day

Rawalpindi Women University organized a ceremony to commemorate International Women’s Day. The ceremony featured, Nigar Nazar, the first Muslim woman cartoonist and Chief executive officer of Gogi Studios. She is also the graduate of 1969 of Rawalpindi Women University when it used to be Post Graduate College. Her comics explore themes such as women education, environment and everyday life in Pakistan in humorous way.
During her speech, Ms. Nigar shared her experiences as a woman in the field of cartooning. While highlighting the importance of creativity and humor she said that creativity is a powerful tool that can inspire change and laughter truly is the best medicine, and when it is coupled with a powerful message, its potential is limitless especially when dealing with complex and sensitive topics.
Prof. Dr. Anila Kamal , Vice Chancellor RWU, underscored the importance of celebrating International Women’s Day and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to promoting gender equity۔ At RWU, we are committed to creating a campus community that values and supports women in all their diversity, she further added.
Fine Department exhibited their art work on the occasion. The ceremony was organized by the Social Science society of RWU and was attended by students, faculty members, and staff. The ceremony was a powerful celebration of women’s achievements and an inspiring call to action for gender equality.
