Workshop on Optics at Women’s University Swabi Imparts Valuable Insights

Swabi: The Department of Physics at Women’s University Swabi recently hosted a one-day workshop on optics, aiming to provide students with practical knowledge and hands-on experience in the field. Dr. Imrana Ashraf, a professor from Quaid-I-Azam University and an American Optical Society member, was the guest speaker. The event was also attended by Mr. Masad Hashmi from the QAU Optical Society Students Chapter, Dr. Omme Kalsoom, Director ORIC WUS, Dr Neelam Khaliq HOD Physics , Miss Maria Tabraiz and Ms. Maria Murtaza, lecturer at the Department of Physics WUS .

The workshop spanned three informative sessions. Dr. Imrana Ashraf initiated discussions on fundamental optics concepts, followed by practical demonstrations in a dark room using optical instruments. In the final session, participants engaged in hands-on activities and interactive discussions, solidifying their understanding of optical principles and real-world applications.

A dedicated question and answer session encouraged participants to seek clarification and share their insights, fostering a deeper understanding of optics. Students expressed high satisfaction with the practical approach, praising its effectiveness in comprehending complex concepts.

Dr. Imrana Ashraf extended an invitation to WUS physics students to visit her labs at QAU and suggested organizing more sessions on advanced optical topics. Dr. Nilem Khaliq, Head of the Department of Physics at WUS, expressed gratitude to the guests and students, hoping that the acquired knowledge and skills would inspire and benefit participants in their academic and professional journeys.
