LAHORE:Special Assistant to Punjab Chief Minister for Information & Special Initiatives and Government Spokesperson Hasaan Khawar has said that the provincial government was fully aware of the effects of inflation on the lower strata of society.

“Administration in Punjab is working strategically to minimise the effects of inflation under the leadership of the provincial chief executive.”

He expressed these views while speaking to the media on the occasion of inspecting the stock of imported low-price sugar at a government warehouse in Mughalpura.

Khawar added that ongoing protests of opposition parties had nothing to do with inflation. Opposition was only fighting to serve their vested personal interests under the guise of public interest.

Lahore ADCG Lahore and Shalimar Town AC briefed him through a special dashboard set up by the Punjab Information Technology Board for monitoring supply and demand of sugar in market.

The spokesperson highlighted that the government had imported 90,000 tons of sugar, out of which, two ships containing 59,000 tons of sugar had been offloaded.

At present, about 28,000 tons of sugar had been supplied to the market, he revealed. He also said that the government was ensuring the supply of low-price sugar to common man without any hindrance.

Under an integrated system, the cane commissioners had allotted quotas to all the districts, and sugar was being provided to deputy commissioners in all the districts according to their allotted quotas, he stated.

“This whole process is being effectively monitored with the help of modern technology.”

Replying to a question about change in government, he commented that he had been hearing about in-house change in Punjab for the past three years.
