ISLAMABAD: First ever women journalists cricket tournament kicked off at National Press Club (NPC) Islamabad here on Friday night. The event is being organized by NPC. Press Information Officer, Mubashar Hassan was the chief guest of the inaugural ceremony of the tournament.
According to detail, first match of the event was played between Electronic Media team and RIUJ team. RIUJ scored 29 runs in 04 overs which were chased by Electronic media team in three overs. In the second match, team print media defeated the team media friends. Total 05 matches were played on first day. Victorious teams of the night were NPC Islamabad, NPC Rawalpindi, Electronic Media, Print Media, and BBC.
Quaid-e-Sahafat, Afzal Butt; President NPC, Anwar Raza; Secretary NPC, Khalil Raja; Finance Secretary Nayyer Ali; Vice President Maaira Imran; senior journalists; and other women were present to enjoy the competition between enthusiastic players.
Next phase of the tournament will held today (Sunday). Final match will also be played on the same day.
