ISLAMABAD: Monday saw the extension of Imran Khan’s interim release in two different cases by banking and anti-terrorism courts.
In the course of today’s hearing, Banking Court Judge Rakhshanda Shaheen extended the PTI Chairman’s bail until November 10.
Intizar Panjhota, the attorney for Khan, submitted a request for leave of absence from court, claiming that the PTI leader is in Lahore organising the lengthy march.
He explained, “Imran Khan is the head of a political party and is organising a march. We are merely asking for an exemption for today since Imran Khan usually shows up to hearings.
Raja Rizwan Abbasi, the prosecutor, requested that the court reject the attorney’s plea.
He said, “It is not justified that Imran Khan is on a march and cannot appear in court.”
Following the hearing, the court postponed making a decision and allowed the application for court attendance exemption.
The court also heard the interim bail requests made by the suspects in the case, Yunus Ali Raza, Sardar Azhar Tariq, Tariq Shafi, and Faisal Maqbool.
Shah Khawar, the legal representative for the PTI, was asked by the judge if he will be present for the argument. She inquired as to the overall quantity of bails as well.
The assistant attorney then stated that there are four of them.
In the meantime, Maqbool’s attorney submitted a plea asking for exemption from court attendance while the suspects Yunus, Tariq, and Shafi appeared before the court.
According to lawyer Raja Abdul Qadeer, he has a cardiac condition and cannot travel because of it.
Hearing postponed by court.
Case of terrorism
In the terror case that was filed against Khan for breaking section 144 and interfering in state affairs, an anti-terrorism court also extended his provisional bail until November 9.
Babar Awan, the PTI leader’s attorney, entered the courtroom.
In the terrorism case that was registered with Tarnol police station, the court heard the application for bail.
Awan submitted a plea, which the court granted, asking for Khan to be excused from the hearing.
The hearing was postponed until November 9 by the court.
