KARACHI: On Wednesday, the Sindh High Court (SHC) commanded the pertinent agencies to delete scandalous and slanderous online comments made about television actress Mehwish Hayat.
Mehwish went to the SHC because she was the target of a social media campaign because of remarks a YouTuber had made against actors.
Adil Farooq Raja, a British YouTuber and former army officer, made significant accusations against several actresses on December 31 by using their initials, S.A, K.K, M.H, and H.K.
Mehwish, Kubra, and Sajal Aly were forced to respond to the accusations on social media as internet users tied their initials to them.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Pakistan Telecommunication Authority received notices from the court (PTA). It also asked both parties for a response.
Khawaja Naveed, the petitioner’s attorney, claimed at the hearing that Adil Raja is making accusations against her.
Raja, according to Mehwish, has retracted his accusations against Kubra Khan.
He referred to me as M.H., she informed the court.
The petitioner argued before the court that people who brought false charges are “mentally ill,” and she urged the court to punish them.
Mehwish claimed that despite approaching the FIA as well, nothing is being done.
The defence attorney suggested that the accusers be disciplined.
After the hearing, Mehwish told reporters that she had had enough of waiting.

Because of the rumours, “I and my family are experiencing mental torment,” she claimed.

The actress claimed that there are deranged individuals on social media who like insulting artists.

Mehwish expressed her faith for the legal system to deliver justice.
