Time to shun abhorrent drive against army

The whole nation is standing shoulder to shoulder with Pak Army amid a vile campaign against the national institution is at apex on the social media.

It seems that foreign funding from the anti-state elements is involved in the dirty campaign against Pakistan Army and its chief General Asim Munir. The drive is not only limited to social media only but a few protests were also held abroad.

The hate propaganda commenced when the PTI government was toppled through a no confidence motion in the parliament last year in April. PTI’s Chief Imran Khan after dismissal from the PM’s office started the campaign against former Army Chief General(R) Qamar Javed Bajwa. He also issued some statements against the sitting army chief.

Though Imran Khan committed a blunder by involving army into politics intentionally or unintentionally, it seems that he was used in the matter. He opened a door that changed into a flood of misinformation on social media maligning the army.

The campaign started by the PTI was later hijacked by some foreign agencies and it became so much intensified that the Prime Minister had to speak on it. Although he threw all the debris on PTI’s chief Imran Khan for the smear drive against Army Chief.

It has become the routine that every government who is stepped down due to own mistakes from the power corridor, always blames either the army or judiciary for face saving among the people. The politicians think the army is an easy target. This trend should be abolished forever as defaming national institutions is actually as par with denigrating the country.

All the political forces should ponder that with their minor mistakes, the anti-Pakistan elements take a big advantage and use the so called vloggers by financing it. They also misuse some nationalists’ forces by airing anti state sentiments among them.

There should be a complete understanding between all the nations that national institutions responsible for guarding the country are supreme from all personal interests.

Now is the right moment that the government by using technology must close the flood-gate of disinformation on social media. There should be a separate body who may control the social media and verify the content used in Pakistan, though the social media is totally controlled from abroad but on the national level it must be a check and balance on completely naked social media.

On the other side the Pak Army should take some measures to improve its image among the people of the country. If all the government departments would work within their legal framework, then these kinds of problems cannot be lifted. There are right and wrong men in every organization.

In this regard the Punjab government has also issued a directive that the speech  contest among the students of colleges and universities in which the significance of the army might be described to create awareness in the young generation about the sensitivity of the issue to counter the fifth generation war started by anti-Pakistan elements on social media.
