Islamabad: The federal government will release another 5 billion development budget in the next two days for Gilgit Baltistan. The efforts of the provincial government have paid off. In the light of Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid’s orders, Provincial Finance Minister Javed Ali Manwa, Provincial Planning Minister and Chief Secretary made efforts at the federal level for the release of the development budget.
In an important meeting between the Advisor to PM on Kashmir and GB Affairs and the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan in the Federal Ministry of Kashmir Affairs, it has been agreed to increase the minimum level of subsidy on wheat price in Gilgit-Baltistan on the demand of the federal government. After which the federation has decided to release GB subsidy wheat quota for April, May and June in next few days.
It should be noted that for the release of GB subsidy quota, the federation had demanded the GB government to increase the price of wheat subsidy and made the release of GB quota subject to price hikes.
In the meeting, the federation was convinced that without the necessary support for the development of the agricultural sector of Gilgit-Baltistan, there are serious challenges in the region regarding the increase in the price of wheat. In this regard, the Federation should also provide the required resources.
