Muzaffarabad: Prime Minister of the Azad Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq has said that the government of Azad Kashmir is working to benefit from the hydro power generation and tourism potential in the region.
This he said while talking to Australian High Commissioner Neil Hawkins at his office here on Monday.
Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir said that the solution to the Kashmir issue is in the resolutions of the United Nations, that assured right of self-determination and there is no other way except their implementation. In the struggle for freedom in Kashmir,in which almost 100,000 people sacrificed their lives, and there are thousands of unidentified graves.
The PM AJK said that Indian occupied Kashmir is a militarized zone with 900,000 occupying forces after the abolition of Articles 370 and 35A, that provided special status to Kashmir.
He said that democratic traditions are strong in Azad Kashmir, and there is excellent political harmony, and people have complete freedom of expression.
He said that Kashmiris are not interested in trade with India until the Kashmir issue is resolved. The Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir said that after the 13th constitutional amendment, the status of the Kashmir Council is only advisory, and the powers of the Council have been transferred to the Azad Kashmir government.
The Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir said that Azad Kashmir is also affected by climate change. There is a complete ban on tree cutting in Azad Kashmir, and efforts are being made to improve firefighting.
Australian High Commissioner Neil Hawkins said that he enjoyed visiting Azad Kashmir; it is a beautiful region of the world, and its natural beauty is a source of interest for tourists. Australia supports human rights and democratic practices, and there are excellent relations between Pakistan and Australia.
