Islamabad: The Minister for Health Azad Kashmir Dr. Nisar Ansar Abbasi has said that stated that it is crucial to investigate the causes of Greece incident so that appropriate action can be taken against the negligent parties.
He said this during a meeting with the Ambassador of Greece, Constantinos Motsis, regarding the Greek ship incident in which hundreds of Pakstani and Kashmiris were drowned.
On this occasion, the Greek Ambassador expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and extended condolences to the families of the victims.
The Greek Ambassador assured the immediate repatriation of the deceased to Pakistan, emphasizing that no compensation could replace those who lost their lives. However, our government is formulating a policy that includes providing ease in visas and a special quota for the people of Azad Kashmir.
Minister Nisar Ansar Abbasi told the Greek Ambassador that everyone of AJK is in the state of shock due to this incident.
“We have already sent DNA samples of the family members of the victims and missing persons to the embassy. Now, the Greek government should promptly repatriate the bodies to Pakistan”, minister added.
Abbasi informed the Greek Ambassador that government of Pakistan is taking action against human smuggling agents. Kashmiris expect that the Greek government would also take action against groups involved in human smuggling.
Both sides agree the need for comprehensive reforms in human smuggling and emphasized revisiting these laws to ensure justice, efficiency, and the protection of human rights.
