Muzaffarabad: Regional Director Benazir Income Support Program Dr. Abdul Aziz Qureshi & District Councilor UC Jhandgraan / Secretary General PPP AJK Muzaffarabad Division Ch. Ijaz Iqbal met on the first working day after Eid in Regional Office BISP Muzaffarabad AJK regarding the improvement of BISP women’s beneficiaries of far-flung areas. During the meeting Ch. Ijaz Iqbal said that Benazir Income Support Program is a source of support for the poor. For easy disbursement of funds to poor women living in remote areas, keeping in view the recent heat wave and traveling difficulties he gave his suggestions regarding setting up a payment center at the Union Council level. He said that Benazir Income Support Program has gained global recognition in terms of transparency in accordance with the vision of Shaheed Mohtarama Benazir Bhutto by making full use of up-to-date Biometric verification technology in the last decade. The Immediate and transparent delivery of funds to flood victims and distribution of funds to people affected by the COVID-19 epidemic are recent examples set by BISP in the field. He further said that BISP has established a standard of transparency in the payment of Benazir Kafaalat and Benazir Taleemi Wazaif funds under the biometric verification system, which is unprecedented in the history of Pakistan.
Regional Director BISP Dr. Abdul Aziz Qureshi while talking during the meeting said that the Federal Government is taking steps to provide relief to the poor and deserving women, all the available resources are being utilize for the BISP beneficiaries’ and the BISP is playing a key role to eradicate poverty from the country. Regional Director BISP while sharing information regarding the remittance of funds in the recent quarter said that before Eid 49885 women beneficiaries have received 44.965 million PKR which is 50 percent of the total amount disbursed in AJK. He further informed that the payment process is being restarted from July 4, 2023. Now, Benazir Kafaalat & Benazir Taleemi Wazaif educational scholarships will be made by designated retailers of Bank Al-Falah instead of camps.
