Inflation is public problem

0 7

The government has reduced the price of petroleum products due to the fall of oil price in the international market, though the people would get a minor relief from it, just as a peanut for an elephant but the overall impact of inflation remains intact.

The inflation in Pakistan has been enhanced in the last one year with a superfluous wild pace that the budget of the common man is disturbed so badly that he cannot meet both ends. The hostile policies that forced past governments to beg from international donor agencies on extremely harsh conditions that have pushed down the majority of the middle class of the society beyond the poverty line.

In Pakistan the average income of the people is around 90 US dollars, whereas the price of energy sector including petroleum products, natural gas or LPG and electricity were increased almost 150 percent during previous year and it became certainly hard for the salaried class to survive.

By virtue of the price hike in the energy sector, not only the travelling cost was raised but also the cost of the kitchen items and agricultural commodities went to the sky ultimately which created a lot of problems for the common man.

The working class in Pakistan is in real misery due to excessive price-hikes in the last 12 months or so as most of the people, after paying utility bills, travelling cost, kitchen and household expenses, have not been left with ample finances to bear the healthcare facilities for their ailing family members. Most people have limited the luxury of taking meat and fruits once a week. The majority of them even reduced one meal to continue the study of their children due to the high inflation rate.

The inflation has also affected the business directly as due to low income and high expenses, the purchasing power of the middle class, which is almost 61 percent of the total papulation of the country, has been exhausted. This is the very reason that when we visit any shopping area, we may find that shops are packed with different products but the number of actual buyers in the market is on gradual decrease notably as compared to past years. If the business would not grow in a befitting manner, then how would the government collect the revenues?

Neither the caretaker government is answerable to the public nor it is keen to contest elections so it is taking decisions freely without taking care of the interests of the common man, which resulted in the surge in inflation.

Some 15 years back, the people in the country were more prosperous than in the current era, as the economy was moving on the right track at that time. But after that extravagant expenditures and lavish lifestyle of our rulers at the cost of national exchequer, shoved the country towards a dark ditch.

The imprudent politicians of Pakistan had plundered the national wealth with both hands and instead of setting industries, they borrowed hefty loans on demanding conditions so as their luxuries should be continued.
