ISLAMABAD: Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, met with Country Head of Yango Services Pakistan Miral Sharif Khan, Head of Public Policy and Government Affairs Yango, Jahangir Khan and the Yango team on Thursday at the CDA Headquarters. The meeting was also attended by CDA Member Planning and Design, Dr. Khalid Hafiz, Member Engineering, Syed Nafasat Raza, Director General Resources, Director Metro Bus Services and other senior officers.
The meeting discussed providing the best travel facilities to the citizens of Islamabad. In this regard, both parties considered potential options for integrating modern and online transport services to improve access to metro and electric feeder bus network.
Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that they are fully committed to making Islamabad the best capital city in the world. He said that providing the best transport system, keeping in view the affordable and environmentally friendly travel needs of the citizens, is our top priority.
Chairman CDA mentioned that in this context, the CDA has already launched a Google App for bus stations and real-time tracking. To make it more effective, working will be done to integrate Yango Services with the public transport system in Islamabad.
Chairman CDA said that Yango Services should not only be integrated with the electric and feeder bus project but also linked with the CDA’s Google App. He said that through this integration, the citizens of Islamabad will have an easy access to information and facilities of metro, electric feeder buses, as well as Yango’s car and bike services.
The Yango team highlighted that Yango Services are available in over thirty countries and are also integrated with the public transport system in several countries. They shared that Yango has eight thousand registered drivers who are also connected with the Safe City project.
The meeting also held detailed discussions on introducing electric bikes and bicycles to promote affordable and environmentally friendly travel facilities.
Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that electric bikes, scooties, and bicycle facilities can be introduced in Islamabad. He said that in this regard, a plan will be made to introduce electric bikes, scooties, and bicycles through national and international companies under an open and transparent mechanism. Chairman CDA said that the CDA is always ready to provide all necessary infrastructure and the best opportunities for this purpose.
During the meeting, the Yango team expressed keen interest in participating tree plantation drive in Islamabad and also ready for full cooperation in organizing cultural activities and festivals in Islamabad.
Chairman CDA, reaffirming the commitment to fully utilize Yango’s technical capabilities and best experience, said that all resources are being utilized to provide the best, affordable, environmentally friendly, and safe travel facilities. He further highlighted that providing the citizens of Islamabad with the best possible facilities is among our top priorities.
