Islamabad, October 27, 2025: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Engineer Amir Maqam, led a massive rally in Islamabad on Kashmir Black Day to express unwavering solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and to reaffirm Pakistan’s moral, political, and diplomatic support for their just struggle for freedom.

The rally, organized to mark the 78th anniversary of India’s illegal invasion of Jammu and Kashmir on October 27, 1947, drew participants from political parties, civil society, and the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK). Participants carried banners condemning Indian atrocities and chanted slogans in support of Kashmir’s freedom and against India’s continued occupation.

Addressing the gathering, Amir Maqam reminded the world that October 27 was the darkest day in Kashmir’s history — the day when India violated international law and the partition plan by deploying its forces in Jammu and Kashmir against the will of its people. “No Pakistani can ever forget this day when India turned Kashmir into a military garrison,” he said.

He paid tribute to the extraordinary courage and sacrifices of the Kashmiri people who, despite decades of repression, have remained steadfast in their demand for the right to self-determination. “Over 97,000 Kashmiris have laid down their lives, thousands of women have been widowed, and countless children orphaned — yet their resolve remains unbroken,” Maqam said.

Expressing grave concern over the indifference of international human rights organizations, the minister urged the United Nations to act decisively against what he described as India’s state-sponsored genocide in Kashmir. He said the UN must honour its commitments and implement its resolutions guaranteeing Kashmiris the right to decide their future through a plebiscite.

Highlighting Pakistan’s consistent stance, Maqam reaffirmed that Islamabad has always stood shoulder to shoulder with the Kashmiri people, advocating their cause at every global platform. He said that recent elections held under Indian occupation once again exposed the illegitimacy of New Delhi’s claims and reflected the Kashmiri people’s rejection of Indian rule.

Senior APHC-AJK leader Mohammad Farooq Rahmani, Minister Muhammad Qasim Noon, and other prominent figures including Aijaz Rehmani, Shaikh Yaqoob, Imtiyaz Wani, Javeed Iqbal Butt, Haji Muhammad Sultan, Kifayat Rizwi, Muhammad Shafi, Muhammad Ashraf Dar, Shaikh Majid, Nazir Karnaye, Nisar Mirza, Manzoor Ahmed Dar, and Raies Mir also addressed and participated in the rally.

Speakers unanimously called upon the international community, particularly the UN and OIC, to move beyond statements and take practical steps to end Indian oppression in IIOJK and ensure implementation of UN resolutions. The rally concluded with prayers for the martyrs of Kashmir and a renewed pledge to continue supporting the Kashmiri struggle until complete freedom from Indian occupation.
