Nomination papers to be submitted by November 25
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of All Kashmir Newspapers Society (AKNS) has extended the schedule for the upcoming organizational elections, allowing additional time for the submission of nomination papers. Candidates can now file their nominations until November 25, while polling will be held on December 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the AKNS Election Commission chaired by Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Abdul Hameed, in response to requests from member publications seeking an extension. After consulting commission members, the schedule was officially revised and released.
According to the updated timeline, scrutiny of nomination papers will be carried out on November 26, followed by the publication of the preliminary list the same day. Objections to accepted or rejected nominations may be filed on November 27, with hearings and decisions scheduled for November 28. Candidates will be permitted to withdraw their nominations until 4 p.m. on November 29, when the final list of contestants will be published.
Elections will be held in accordance with the AKNS constitution for 13 executive positions, including President, Senior Vice President, two Vice Presidents, Secretary General, Deputy Secretary General, Finance Secretary, Information Secretary, and five members of the Governing Body.
The nomination fee has been set at Rs. 5000 for executive posts and Rs. 3000 for governing body members, both non-refundable.
