Delegation of 67th Shariah Course Visits AJK Supreme Court on Study Tour

Muzaffarabad: A delegation of the 67th Shariah Course from the Shariah Academy of the International Islamic University visited the Supreme Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on the first day of their study tour to the region.

Senior Judge of the Supreme Court, Justice Raza Ali Khan, welcomed the delegation in an introductory session and responded to participants’ queries. The Registrar of the Supreme Court briefed the delegation on the evolution of the judicial system in AJK, the jurisdiction of the superior judiciary under the Interim Constitution of 1974, the procedure for appointment of judges, and the functioning of the higher and subordinate judiciary, including the Shariah Appellate Bench.

Participants also viewed a special documentary highlighting the historical background and current structure of the superior judiciary of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. A prayer was offered for the late mother of Chief Justice Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan.

The delegation comprised Course Coordinator Assistant Professor Shams-ul-Haq and 22 participants of the Shariah Course. Justice Raza Ali Khan presented a commemorative shield to Assistant Professor Shams-ul-Haq, who, in turn, presented a souvenir to Justice Raza Ali Khan on behalf of the course participants.

Earlier, the delegation also visited the Supreme Court Library of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
