MUZAFFARABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Public Health andPopulation Welfare, Syed Bazil Ali Naqvi, chaired an important and comprehensive meeting of the Health Department on Wednesday to review existing challenges, ongoing projects and future strategies for strengthening the healthcare system across the state.
The session was attended by Secretary Health Brigadier Aamir Raza Tipu, Director General Farooq Awan and other senior officials, who briefed the minister in detail on all sectors of public health. The briefing covered the current state of medical services, performance of basic health centers, available resources and progress on ongoing development initiatives.
Addressing the meeting, Minister Naqvi emphasized that upgrading AIMS (AIMS Hospital) is a top priority for the government. He directed immediate measures to enhance modern medical facilities, improve equipment and increase the capacity of medical staff. He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to upgrading the Cardiac Hospital and ensuring world-class treatment for heart patients.
The minister further announced plans to provide additional ambulances equipped with modern life-saving resources to ensure timely emergency medical assistance. He said modern and fully equipped ambulances would help reduce emergency response time and facilitate swift patient transfers from remote areas.
A detailed discussion was also held on enhancing emergency services. Minister Naqvi instructed the formation of a comprehensive strategy to equip emergency medical centers with advanced machinery, strengthen trauma and emergency units, and provide specialized training to medical personnel.
The meeting also made important decisions regarding other major health projects, resource allocation, expansion of district-level facilities and ensuring easier access to quality treatment for the general public.
Minister Naqvi reiterated his resolve that all available resources would be utilized to undertake reforms and improvements within the health sector so that citizens receive timely, reliable and high-quality medical care.
