Gilgit: The Government of Gilgit-Baltistan has appointed senior journalist Shabir Ahmed Mir as Spokesman to the Caretaker Chief Minister Justice Retired Yar Muhammad.

According to an official notification issued by the S&GAD Department (Cabinet Wing), the appointment has been made under the Gilgit-Baltistan Rules of Business, 2009. Shabir Ahmed Mir, son of Muhammad Amir, will serve on the strength of the Office of the Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan during the tenure of the caretaker setup.

Shabir Mir is a senior journalist with over two decades of professional experience across print, electronic, and digital media. Throughout his career, he has extensively covered political developments, governance matters, public policy, environmental issues, and socio-economic challenges in Gilgit-Baltistan. In addition to journalism, he has also gained experience working with the development sector, contributing to communication, advocacy, and policy-oriented initiatives.

Among his widely reported journalistic stories was an investigative report concerning the academic credentials of former Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid Khan. The matter later became the subject of legal proceedings, culminating in a decision by the Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Court, which disqualified Khalid Khurshid Khan as a member of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly, effectively bringing an end to his tenure as Chief Minister.
