Capacity building session held for newly-established Narcotics Investigation Unit

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Investigation Muhammad Usman Tariq Butt, held a key meeting to review and strengthen the investigation of narcotics cases across the federal capital. Investigation officers from all police stations attended the meeting.

The meeting focused on evaluating the performance of the newly established Narcotics Investigation Unit (NIU), examining existing challenges, and discussing ways to further improve the overall investigation process.

As part of the training and capacity-building initiative following the formation of the Narcotics Investigation Unit, former judge Justice (retd.) Naseeruddin Nair delivered a special lecture to the participating investigation officers.

During his lecture, he highlighted common shortcomings observed in narcotics case investigations and provided detailed legal, procedural and practical guidance to address these gaps effectively.

On the occasion, SSP Investigation Islamabad directed all investigation officers to ensure complete merit, transparency and strict adherence to legal requirements in narcotics cases.

He emphasized that only strong, evidence-based and professionally conducted investigations can guarantee punishments for offenders and support Islamabad Police’s efforts against the menace of drugs.

He reiterated that effective, lawful and well-coordinated investigations are essential for eliminating narcotics from society and safeguarding the youth.
