Muzaffarabad: A meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council was held under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan, who is also Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council.
The meeting was attended by Senior Judge of the Supreme Court Justice Raza Ali Khan and Chief Justice of the High Court Sardar Liaquat Hussain as members of the Supreme Judicial Council. The formal proceedings commenced with the presentation of the agenda by the Registrar Supreme Court.
The Chief Justice welcomed Justice Raza Ali Khan and Justice Sardar Liaquat Hussain and congratulated them on becoming members of the Supreme Judicial Council. The meeting primarily took up the matter of the Rules of Procedure relating to inquiries of the Supreme Judicial Council.
The Registrar Supreme Court informed the Council that a committee for the drafting of the rules had earlier been constituted under the chairmanship of a former senior judge of the Supreme Court, who had since retired upon completion of his tenure. As a result, the drafting process had not yet been completed.
Chairman Supreme Judicial Council Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan appointed Senior Judge Supreme Court Justice Raza Ali Khan as Chairman of the committee tasked with finalising the Supreme Judicial Council Rules. The Registrar Supreme Court and the Secretary Law will continue to serve as members of the committee.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Chief Justice once again thanked the members of the Supreme Judicial Council and adjourned the meeting for an indefinite period.
