Muzaffarabad: A high level meeting chaired by Prime Minister of the Azad Government of the State of Jammu and Kashmir Faisal Mumtaz Rathore was held in Muzaffarabad to review the situation arising from severe weather conditions. The meeting thoroughly examined the measures taken by the civil administration and the Power Department in response to heavy rainfall and snowfall.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Zafar Mahmood, Commissioner Muzaffarabad Division Chaudhry Guftar Hussain, Deputy Inspector General of Police Shehryar Sikandar, and senior officials of the Power Department. During the session, the Commissioner Muzaffarabad Division and the DIG Police briefed the Prime Minister on losses caused by heavy rains and snowfall, the situation in affected areas, and ongoing relief and rehabilitation activities. The briefing also covered road blockages, landslides, public hardships, and rescue operations.
Officials of the Power Department informed the Prime Minister about steps taken to restore transmission lines, ensure uninterrupted electricity supply, and deploy field staff in view of the harsh weather. It was stated that emergency work is underway to restore power supply in affected areas.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore directed the administration to remain fully active and further accelerate relief activities in areas affected by heavy snowfall. He said that provision of basic necessities of life, particularly food, medicines, fuel, and electricity, is the government’s top priority.
The Prime Minister instructed the Power Department to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply under all circumstances and to keep field teams on constant readiness to deal with any emergency situation. He stressed that all relevant departments must remain on high alert to ensure immediate resolution of public difficulties, warning that any negligence or lapse would not be tolerated.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed that the government would not leave the affected population alone in this difficult time and would utilize all available resources to restore normalcy as soon as possible.
