Arshad Sharif, a respected journalist and television host, was buried on Thursday in Islamabad’s H-11 cemetery.
After funeral prayers were said in Islamabad’s Faisal Mosque under tight security, the journalist was laid to rest.
Numerous people, including members of the journalism community, came to the funeral prayer for Sharif.
In the meantime, the funeral prayers for the dead journalist were offered in Lahore by PTI Chairman Imran Khan and other PTI leaders. PTI leaders Asad Umar, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Shahbaz Gill, Hammad Azhar, and others were present for the prayers.
While travelling to Nairobi on Sunday night, Sharif was fatally shot by Kenyan police in a “mistaken identity” case.
Early on Wednesday, a flight carrying Sharif’s body was made from Kenya to Pakistan. At the airport in Islamabad, members of his family picked up his remains.
In Kenya, the police acknowledged killing him in their initial report. According to the Kenyan police, Sharif was accidentally shot in the head.
Eight members of the PIMS hospital’s medical board performed a postmortem on his remains at the hospital upon the family’s request. The family requested that the medical team also include an OMFS surgeon and an ENT surgeon.
His body was also subjected to an X-ray and a CT scan at the hospital by the PIMS medical board.
According to sources, today is the anticipated release date for the initial postmortem report.
According to Professor Hashim Raza of the PIMS hospital, it might take a few days for the forensics of the samples sent to the lab to be completed.
