Muzaffarabad: A senior-level delegation of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, led by Secretary Information Mushtaq Ahmed Butt, held an important meeting with Deputy Commissioner Muzaffarabad Munir Ahmed Qureshi at his office.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss administrative arrangements and seek mutual cooperation for the protest demonstration being organised by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference in Muzaffarabad on January 5, observed as the Right to Self-Determination Day.
During the meeting, the Hurriyat delegation briefed the Deputy Commissioner on the objectives of the protest and clarified that the demonstration is being organised in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions to reaffirm the internationally recognised right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people, to awaken the conscience of the world, and to express solidarity with the oppressed people of Kashmir. The delegation emphasised that the protest would remain completely peaceful, within the bounds of law, and in line with democratic values.
The Hurriyat delegation requested full administrative cooperation from the Deputy Commissioner and formally invited him to participate in the protest programme so that, on this day of national and humanitarian significance, collective support could be extended to the legitimate demands of the Kashmiri people. On the occasion, the delegation also congratulated Munir Ahmed Qureshi on assuming office as Deputy Commissioner Muzaffarabad and presented him with a bouquet as a gesture of goodwill. The delegation expressed hope that the district administration would play a positive and effective role in safeguarding democratic rights and promoting peaceful activities.
The Deputy Commissioner thanked the delegation, termed the meeting positive, and assured that the district administration would ensure all possible cooperation, within the framework of law and regulations, for the organisation of the Hurriyat Conference protest programme. He said the administration would fulfil its constitutional responsibilities by respecting citizens’ democratic rights and maintaining law and order.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Hurriyat delegation offered special prayers for the eternal peace, elevation of ranks, and forgiveness of the Deputy Commissioner’s late father.
