The problem of Balochistan arose just after the birth of Pakistan. It is the different subject that who was wrong or who was right on the matter.
If look at the history of Balochistan, there had been several military operations in the province at different times from the democratic regime of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto to dictatorship of General Pervez Musharraf, but with the use of power instead of things moving towards right directions, situation of Balochistan was deteriorated further.
The state always made an effort to conjoin those elements who were against the Balochistan liberation movement. It is a separate story that pro Pakistan Sardars have squeezed the government to the maximum extent as they knew well the fact that there was not any option for the state except to pacify them by overviewing their crimes.
By resulting in this kind of situation, the leadership belonging to Balochistan could not resolve the problems of their own province, rather the situation had worsened with the passage of time. This type of poorer atmosphere would have been suited to the Baluch Sardars as they thought that their importance in the eyes of the government, might be retained in appalling circumstances only.
When Asif Zardari became the President of the country, tried to appease Baluch Sardars by distributing additional funds among them. He also gave authority to them on the natural resources of Balochistan. He also enhanced the job quota of Balochistan. He also gave maximum share to the province in the international agreements.
Prior to that Baluchistan got a meager share of just two percent from the metals extracted from the province and the lion’s share , 98 percent, was taken by the federal government. Similarly, the payment of natural gas made to the province was too incredible and insufficient as compared to Sindh.
Then an era also came when Rs 25 million were distributed among each member of parliament hailed from Baluchistan in the name of development funds.
Everyone knows that on what criteria, the feudal landlords and Sardars of Balochistan became Chief Minister of the province. One of the CM received one billion rupees from the exchequer of his own government on the plea that his tribe suffered the loss of houses and crops in the enmity with the rival tribe.
Pervez Musharraf also utilized Rs 10 billion on transforming the tribal belt into cities in Balochistan, but when the next PPP led government came into power, then the Sardars of Balochistan demanded to reconstitute the tribal areas, where they would have full authority to appoint their own supporters on important public posts. As a matter of fact, those workers perform duties as their personal guards but take the salaries from the national exchequer. They also demanded that the entire amount of their pay and allowances should be transferred to their personal bank accounts and they will pay them according to their will.
The Baluch Sardars always took a lame excuse that the people who came from outside were plundering them. As a matter of fact, on request of the government they invited educated people from the entire country for the education of their children. These newcomers settled down and got married there. Now the Sardars raised a wave against them into the minds of their people and a chain of murdering them began throughout the provinces. They confiscated their property and forced them to leave Balochistan. Their vacant place was filled by people who came from Afghanistan. The leaders of the province just to win the elections helped these Afghan nationals to make them national identity cards.
