RAWALPINDI: Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), paid his final visits to the Naval and Air Headquarters on Monday.
A well dressed personnel of the Pakistan Navy met him at the Naval Headquarters and honoured him with a guard of honour, according to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announcement.
He praised the Pakistan Navy’s function in defending the nation’s maritime borders during his meeting with Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi.
A contingent of the Pakistan Air Force presented the COAS with a guard of honour at the Air Headquarters. The meeting with Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, the head of the air staff, came after the guard of honour.
He commended the Pakistan Air Force’s (PAF) full professionalism in guarding Pakistan’s aerial frontiers and emphasised the importance of the PAF’s contribution to the fight against terrorism.
A floral wreath was placed at the martyrs’ monument during the army chief’s visit to Headquarters Rawalpindi Corps.
Speaking to the officers and soldiers, he commended the corps for protecting the nation’s frontiers in a proper manner, particularly Siachen and the Line of Control.
Lt Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Commander of the Rawalpindi Corps, welcomed the COAS upon his earlier arrival.
Gen. Bajwa launched a manufactured village in Lal Gul Goth while he was in Lasbela on Sunday. For the flood victims, a village has been constructed.
The prefabricated town contains a primary school, claims ISPR. A tube well supplies water, and it is illuminated by off-grid solar energy.
Maj Gen Kamal Azfar, Director General of the Frontier Works Organization, which finished the project, gave the army commander an update on the status of the rehabilitation efforts for the flood victims.
In order to speed up the rehabilitation work being carried out with the cooperation of the federal and provincial governments, Gen. Bajwa stated that the Pakistan Army would keep up all of its efforts.
