Buzdar receives temporary bail from the Lahore accountability court in the NAB case.

Usman Buzdar, a former chief minister, was granted interim pre-arrest release by an accountability court on Saturday as part of a probe into “assets beyond recognised sources of income” by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
The PTI leader appeared beside a lawyer in court, Barrister Momin Malik, who submitted a petition for pre-arrest bail in Lahore’s accountability court.

The legal representative for Buzdar said that the NAB had opened a new investigation into the possession of assets beyond one’s means. He claimed that the NAB had authorised investigations into the case in question and there was a chance that it would wish to detain Buzdar. Waris Ali Janjua, a special prosecutor for the NAB, spoke for the anti-corruption agency in court.

Pre-arrest bail was granted by Judge Malik Ali Zulqarnain Awan after hearing Buzdar’s request; nonetheless, he was had to provide surety bonds totaling 500,000 rupees.

NAB was also ordered by the court to present a written reply at the subsequent hearing.
