First of all the caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar gave a statement that the elections could be held in the country without Imran Khan and on next day interim Interior Minister Sarfaraz Bugti said that the government would arrest Mian Nawaz Sharif. if he arrives in the country without getting bail.
First the followers of Imran Khan were annoyed by the PM’s statement and they showed resentment over social media and then the supporters of PML(N) expressed their anger over the statement of caretaker interior minister.
Then a series of lashes were covered on social media by the workers of both the parties including PTI and PML(N) against the PM and interior minister.
Now the question has been raised that should the caretaker government be involved directly in the politics or they should give focus on holding the free. fair and transparent elections within the time limit as prescribed by the constitution of the country.
The impact of two statements issued by the two different people sitting in the power corridors nowadays would be almost the same. As a matter of fact, both the former Prime Ministers Imran Khan and Nawaz Sharif have been disqualified from contesting elections from the court of law.
But it is point to ponder if the topmost leadership of two biggest political parties would be barred from taking part in the elections, then the integrity of caretaker government as well as the credibility of next general elections would be fallen to earth and no one not only from inside the country but also from the abroad would accept the elections and people would come on the roads to protest.
The political parties of the country are waiting anxiously for the next general elections but if anybody would not be allowed to participate in the elections, then a sequence of post elections disapproval at large would grip the entire country, which would result anarchy in the country and finally after maximum six months, the country would have to go through the re-election process and the current situation of economy does not afford it.
In the opinion of the majority of the people, everyone who wants to contest elections should be allowed to do so without any discrimination, as the constitution of the country guarantees the protection of human rights to every citizen of the country.
The caretaker government should read the writing on the wall and should not get entangled in politics as the caretaker government is always considered to be a non-political setup as it has the mandate to hold the elections only.
Now it would be better for the caretakers as well as the future of the country that instead of involving directly in politics and losing trust of the large majority of the people, they should not take measures to minus popular leadership of the country otherwise they would be caught in the trap that will take the deteriorating condition of the country’s economy on back foot further.
The government should align its direction towards holding elections and give the next government , who would come into power after elections a chance to run the affairs. The caretakers should have no concern at all about who will win the elections.
