Chairman Accountability Bureau AJK for anti-corruption measures

Muzaffarabad:  Mirpur: Chairman of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Accountability Bureau, Mushtaq Ahmad Janjua, has stated that he will not compromise or be afraid in the pursuit of eliminating corruption and achieving justice. He emphasized that holding this position is not my legacy to be afraid of losing, and I will fulfill my duties according to the law no matter how long I hold this position.

Significant amendments are being made to the accountability laws in Azad Jammu and Kashmir to ensure transparent and impartial accountability processes, allowing the accountability institutions to function effectively. A complaints cell has been made functional in Mirpur for the convenience of the general public and complainants.

During his visit to Mirpur, Janjua addressed a meeting of divisional and district officers. The meeting was attended by Commissioner Chaudhry Shaukat Ali, Director Investigation and Coordination Marza Zaid Hussain, Deputy Chief Prosecutor Waheed Nazir, Deputy Commissioner Yasser Riaz, SSP Kamran Ali, Chairman District Council Raja Naveed Akhtar Goga, Mayor Municipal Corporation Chaudhry Osman Ali Khalid, Deputy Director Accountability Bureau Owais Rafique, Deputy Director Accountability Shahzad Gohar Rehman, A.D Building Inayat Khan, Director MDH Marza Kaleem Jarral, DFO Raja Imran Shafiq, XEN Shahraz Nijam Gilani, XEN Building Shahzad Iqbal, XEN Public Health Engineering Yasir Tahir, and Information Officer Muhammad Javed Malik.

Chairman Accountability Bureau Mushtaq Ahmad Janjua stated during the meeting that the Accountability Bureau is a state institution established under the law, and all state employees are obligated to cooperate in fulfilling its duties. He emphasized the importance of obtaining relevant records for investigation and reference preparation. He warned against any deliberate obstruction or unnecessary delays in cooperation with the Accountability Bureau, stating that action will be taken against those who fail to provide records or cooperate.

Janjua stressed that corruption is a national crime, and its eradication is the responsibility of all. He urged all citizens and institutions to cooperate in eliminating this menace. He also addressed the issue of inactivity in the Accountability Bureau in the past, stating that complaints had been received about certain departments in Mirpur, but reassured that the Bureau’s actions are not personal and are in accordance with the law.

Janjua assured that the formation of the Bureau would not lead to the creation of false or weak cases and that no one would be affected unnecessarily. He encouraged anyone with complaints or issues regarding the Accountability Bureau or its employees to contact him directly, promising to address all grievances.
