Crackdown launched against violation of SOPs in Peshawar

ADC Parachinar urges media men to play role in public awareness campaign to save the people from pandemic

ISLAMABAD: Launching crackdown against the violation of the Covid-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) the district administration Peshawar sealed dozens of shops and commercial areas in Peshawar on Thursday.

Daily Country News has learnt that Deputy Commissioner Peshawar Muhammad Ali Asghar along with Assistant Commissioner (City) Dr Ehtesham-ul-Haq, Assistant Commissioner Syed Noman Ali Shah and Additional Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Shafiq Afridi inspected various bazaars in the Saddar and sealed most shops in Liaquat Bazaar and Qureshi Street for repeated violations of the SOPs and fined shopkeepers in Bilour Plaza and other plazas for not wearing safety masks.  
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Relief) Muhammad Imran Khan along with Additional Assistant Commissioner Aftab Ahmed ensured implementation of SOPs in Kochi Bazaar, People Mandi, Ashraf Road and other bazaars.  Assistant Commissioner (Matani) Rizwana Dar along with Additional Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Arshad Afridi inspected shops and vehicles on Pishtkhara Road and Kohat Road to ensure implementation of the SOPs.  
While inspecting vehicles and shops in Kohat Road and Pahndu areas, Additional Assistant Commissioner Khalid Khan ensured following of the SOPs. Additional Assistant Commissioner Ahmed Hashmi inspected vehicles in Hassan Khel area and observed measuring the SOPs.  Additional Assistant Commissioner Shah Wazir inspected vehicles at Motorway Peshawar Toll Plaza and ensured implementation of Corona Code of Conduct.  
Additional Assistant Commissioner Habibullah inspected shops in Hayatabad markets to ensure  the Corona Code of Conduct.  
Additional Assistant Commissioner Kashif Jan inspected shops and vehicles on Faqirabad and Dilla Zak Road to ensure implementation of the SOPs while Additional Assistant Commissioner Tanzeel-ur-Rehman inspected shops and vehicles on Board Bazaar and University Road.  
Administrative officers inspected BRT buses and stations in their areas to ensure the SOPs.
During the operations, four plazas on Ashraf Road were sealed for continuous violation of the SOPs. Liaquat Bazaar and Qureshi.  175 shops in the street were sealed for violating the code of conduct. 478 citizens were fined on the spot for walking in the bazaars of Peshawar without wearing masks while more than 700 vehicle owners in different parts of Peshawar were fined for not wearing safety masks.  294 citizens were fined for not using safety masks in BRT buses and stations. A total of 964 shops were sealed in Ashraf Road, Saddar and other areas in Peshawar.  
According to Deputy Commissioner Peshawar Muhammad Ali Asghar, mega crackdown is going on all over Peshawar for continuous violation of SOPs.  
He warned the business community and the people not to rush into the markets and abide by the government’s code of conduct or else legal action would be taken against them.
Besides, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kurram tribal district Naeem Khan Turo also said on Friday that the second wave of COVD-19 was more dangerous than before so people should strictly follow Corona SOPs.
ADC Naeem Khan Turo said that people were being infected with Corona virus very fast and therefore they should strictly follow the SOPs.  He said that necessary arrangements had been made in government hospitals as well and SOPs have established social distance among the people regarding the second wave of COVD-19 in the country.  “Precautions must be taken to not only protect themselves from the disease but also to keep the society clean”, he asserted.
ADC said that journalists should play an important role in raising public awareness through the media, adding that is why journalists could play their  role in the campaign to save the people from Corona.
