GILGIT: Chief Secretary Abrar Ahmed Mirza visited the ware house and head office of the Gilgit-Baltistan Disaster Management Authority (GBDMA), during which he reviewed preparations for any natural calamity.
Secretary Interior Syed Asghar Ali was also present with him on this occasion. Director General GBDMA, Safdar Khan, briefed the Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan on the performance of the department and the preparedness of GBDMA in various districts of GB, stating that preparations by authority to timely tackle possible natural disasters and incidents are completed in collaboration with the administration of all districts. DG also informed about future initiatives and planning from the department’s side.
The Chief Secretary of Gilgit-Baltistan issued directives emphasizing that efforts should be made to ensure the availability of immediate relief supplies, food, and other necessities at all costs.
He also stressed the need for enhanced collaboration with donor agencies, including the National Disaster Management Authority, to further improve cooperation, ensuring timely assistance to communities affected by seasonal changes and other factors in Gilgit-Baltistan
