The economic crises of the country are deepening day by day in the midst of political turmoil. Due to the worst economic crunch, Pakistan could move towards default, if the government fails to get the tranche of 1.2 billion dollars from the International Monetary Fund(IMF).
Now on one hand the political mayhem is on its pinnacle as after the arrest of Imran Khan PTI had started a countrywide protest campaign against the arrest of their leader. But as a matter of fact, the party workers crossed red lines, by attacking the security forces.
It makes no difference whether PTI did all the sabotage deliberately or whether some intruders and miscreants entered the scenario by disguising Imran’s supporters to malign Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf. It is a fact that if it was a conspiracy against the party then the plotters have succeeded in throwing the debris of all this hubbub on PTI. Now top leadership of the PTI is in deep hot water as after all this fiasco, the leaders of PTI are saying goodbye to the party, and it is predicted that more leaders would leave the party in the days to come.
It is likely that the government may take some decision to ban the PTI and disqualify Imran Khan from contesting elections but it would bring a political earthquake in the country whose aftershocks could be so devastating that in the result, the economy of the country may fall down to the default.
If the ban on PTI and Imran’s disqualification would be carried out, then it would be unfortunate for Pakistan. But the country cannot afford all this as economic crises would reach to such an extent that would not be manageable for the years to come.
Now the government is rattling before IMF and other donors as the officials of Finance Ministry are running from pillars to post for getting loan tranches for the survival, but the people being at helm of affairs do not know that how these loans would be repaid. The government has no enough money to pay the salaries and pension to the on duty and retired government employees, then how the country would return its loan.
Now the economic disaster has dragged Pakistan to point of no return as there is not any foreign or even local investment, the business is going down on daily basis as businessmen are thinking to withdraw their capital , there are no jobs in the country for educated youth, the common man is lingered on due to very limited sources of income, the bank transactions are squeezing with the passage of time , big industries are either shut down or reduced their production, whereas small industrial units are at the verge of collapse. the country is facing acute energy crises as the circular debt of energy sector is surpassing the total budget deficit, the tax collection in the country has abridged and government has no cash to fulfil its liabilities and the last but not least the flood of price hike has inundated all the segments of the society and entire sectors of economy.
In these circumstances, any decision by the government to remove any existing political force from the scenario would have an impact on the economy but the society would be divided into clear cut fragments.
It is high time for the sitting rulers to put all their head towards placing the economy on the right track instead of political revenge. The budget is very near and just after it the government would have to go for polls. If they would fail to give some relief to the common man and if revenge from the political opponents would remain on their priority list, then the people would take revenge from them in the elections.
