Ehtifaq Panel Wins Ghazi Millat Press Club Elections, New Leadership Elected

Rawalakot: The annual elections for the Ghazi Millat Press Club, held for the 2025-26 session, concluded successfully with the Ehtifaq Panel securing all major positions. Sardar Shafqat Zia was elected as President, Mohammad Khurshid Baig as Senior Vice President, and Zafar Nazir as General Secretary. Naseem Akhtar, the sole female candidate, won the Vice President role with 26 votes. Muneeb Aziz Kayani was chosen as Deputy General Secretary, Mohammad Farooq Khan as Finance Secretary, and Ehsan Ul Haq as Secretary Information. A remarkable 35 out of 36 registered voters participated in the election, giving it nearly 100% voter turnout. The opposition Founder Panel, consisting of Rashid Nazir, Umar Khayam, Hazeema Amjad, Sajid Mahmood Anwar, Owais Ramadan, Mohammad Ikhlaq, and Zakariya Sabir, secured only 16 votes. The election was conducted in a peaceful and transparent manner, with the election commission, led by Nasir Latif, officially announcing the results. The newly elected leaders have vowed to work towards solving journalists’ issues, protecting press freedom, and promoting professional values within the media industry.
