Islamabad: The first Senate meeting of the University of Haveli was held at Kashmir House, Islamabad, under the chairmanship of Acting President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Chancellor of AJK Universities, Chaudhry Latif Akbar.
The meeting was attended by Vice Chancellor of the University of Haveli, Professor Dr. Khawaja Farooq Ahmed, former Chairman of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan Professor Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Vice Chancellor of Women University Mardan Professor Dr. Razia Sultana, Vice Chancellor of Women University of AJK Bagh, and Professor Dr. Aslam Baig of Quaid-i-Azam University, along with Professor Dr. Shahid Ahmed and other members.
During the session, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Khawaja Farooq Ahmed gave a comprehensive briefing on the establishment, progress, and challenges faced by the University of Haveli. He informed the participants that the university was established last year as a significant initiative by the Government of Azad Kashmir and the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan to provide higher education opportunities to the people of Haveli.
Highlighting the challenges, the Vice Chancellor requested the Acting President and Chancellor to direct the Government of Azad Kashmir to ensure the provision of necessary funds and support so that the issues faced by the university could be resolved promptly. Addressing the meeting, Chaudhry Latif Akbar emphasized the importance of promoting quality higher education at the University of Haveli and directed the Vice Chancellor to make all possible efforts in this regard. He assured his full support and cooperation to address the university’s challenges and strengthen its academic and institutional development.
