Islamabad: Speaker of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and senior parliamentarian,Chaudhry Latif Akbar, has said that the freedom of Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and India’s eventual retreat are written on the wall. Addressing the media, he stated that India’s military invasion of Kashmir on October 27 was the beginning of a grave threat to global peace.
He condemned the construction of a dam on River Kunar by the Taliban government on India’s instigation, terming it an act of “water terrorism.” He urged the Afghan government to abandon anti-Pakistan policies and stop serving Indian interests, warning that any aggression along the Pak-Afghan border would be suicidal. Akbar said India, Israel, and Afghanistan now appear to be aligned against Pakistan, but they will all face dire consequences for their hostility.
Referring to India’s atrocities in occupied Kashmir, he said eight lakh Indian troops have turned the region into a prison through curfews, raids, and draconian laws, yet they have failed to crush the Kashmiris’ will for freedom. He emphasized that the Kashmir conflict has become a global flashpoint after the “Operation Bunyān Mursūs,” and noted that even former U.S. President Donald Trump recognized it as an international dispute, rejecting India’s stance.
Akbar paid rich tribute to the martyrs of Kashmir and Pakistan’s armed forces, saying Pakistan has fought three wars for Kashmir and continues to provide political, diplomatic, and moral support to its people. He hailed the leadership of Pakistan’s military and political leaders — from Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto to Benazir Bhutto, Asif Ali Zardari, and Bilawal Bhutto — for steadfastly championing the Kashmir cause at international forums.
He concluded that the people of Azad and occupied Jammu and Kashmir will mark October 27 as Black Day in solidarity, demonstrating unity under the banner of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference. “The Kashmiri nation will never bow before Indian occupation,” he said, adding that the dream of a free Kashmir united with Pakistan will one day be fulfilled.
