Rawalakot:  The Ameer Jamaat-i-Islami Dr Khalid Mehmood Khan has said that no development work is carried out in AJK for the last two years due to the inability of the government.

He was addressing different corner meetings at Poonch on Thursday. He said that a hefty amount of Rs 10 billion from the development fund is going to lapse on expiry of the current financial year, which is ample proof of the incompetence of the AJK government. The people may hold the government accountable for not commencing the development projects.

He said that the roads in the entire AJK are in poor condition. There is not any machinery available in the hospitals. The plight of educational institutions is pitiable.

“The state government should act upon the projects announced in the previous budget and provide some relief to the unemployed youth and inflation hit people”, the JI leader added.

He said that the people of Poonch district are protesting in a sit-in under the auspices of People’s Rights Forum but it is condemnable that the government did not contact them.

Khalid said that neither the government in the base camp of the Kashmir movement is giving attention towards any development work nor is it doing anything for the independence of Kashmir.

He said that the government is making announcements on a daily basis that it is providing soft loans to educated youth but it is not fulfilling its pledges. The government may realize its responsibilities.

He said if the government will continue its negligence then Jamaat-i-Islami will announce its future line of action after consultation.
