In accordance with the Chief Minister Parvez Elahi’s recommendation, Punjab Governor Baligh Ur Rehman will decide today whether to dissolve the provincial legislature (Friday). The dissolution of the assembly has been approved by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
Even so, the legislature will be legally dissolved even if the Punjab governor does not issue a notice, and only the assembly speaker would remain in office until the next speaker is chosen.
Fawad Chaudhry, senior vice president of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), said that the Punjab chief minister had signed the summary for the dissolution of the provincial legislature the day before and urged the Centre to convene early elections across the nation.
He also stated that a letter requesting the establishment of a caretaker government would be sent to Hamza Shahbaz, the leader of the opposition in the Punjab Assembly.

The governor had acknowledged receiving the letter some hours after the announcement.

Baligh Ur Rehman told Geo News after receiving the report that calling the assembly to an end was not an easy choice and that he would make any decision he made with a “heavy heart.”
Public representatives are housed in Punjab Assembly. It would be uncomfortable to put the Punjab chief minister’s recommendations into practise, the governor continued.

Following a meeting between the chief minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan at the latter’s Zaman Park mansion with senior party leaders present, the PTI and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) coalition administration resolved to dissolve the legislature.

The PTI chairman unexpectedly declared on November 26 of last year that his party had made the decision to leave “this corrupt system” and all of the assemblies.
The former prime minister made the declaration following the cancellation of his lengthy march in Rawalpindi.

The Lahore High Court (LHC) allegedly put a stop to the Punjab assembly’s previous dissolution, but the bar was removed when Elahi obtained the legislative body’s support once more and the case was dismissed.
